Small Beauty Haul

Hello!

Lately I've been watching many 'Empties' videos on Youtube which I enjoy because it gives us an honest opinion on how products work instead of just showing us the pretty packaging when you first buy them.

It inspired me to try out some new beauty products as I don't tend to be very adventurous and always stick to simple things or things I get for Christmas/birthdays which take forever to finish!

SO...

Johnson's baby oil - £1.99 - Homebargains

I often see people talking about baby oil which is supposedly a very good moisturizer! I assumed it would be very oily, slimy and not very strong as it needs to be suitable for a baby's sensitive skin. However, it's recommended after showering whilst your skin is still damp. So I thought why not!

Good points- 

• The bottle is cute and simple, with a nice pink colour (very girly!) and a child lock lid so no spillages!
•  A little bit goes a long way, so I can see this lasting a while.
•  It smells amazing, sweet and soft but not too overpowering. 
• It feels nice and warm when you rub it on and it's relaxing and definitely good for massages!
• In the morning my skin was soft and silky :-)

Bad points- 

• It took ages to sink in! I couldn't sit down properly!
• I could see it being very messy and getting everywhere!

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula - £2.95 - Sainsbury's

I hadn't ever heard of this or anyone mention it, but I was drawn to the bottle looked as it like something you would get in a chemist (in my eyes, that means it's good!) and cocoa butter is rumored to be very good. Enriched with vitamin E, it is supposed to be good for smoothing/blending mark, scars & stretch marks. (Just what I need, I would rather try something cheaper for my stretch marks than fork out on bio-oil!) Oh, & a good tanning butter!

Good points-

• SMELLS AMAZING! Just like melted chocolate!
• Sinks into your skin reasonably fast, considering it's a thick butter
• A little bit goes a very long way! This will last me a long time!
• Very relaxing and massaging
• In the morning, my skin felt beautiful which is what I look for!

Bad points-

• I haven't notice a change in my stretch marks BUT I have only used it twice!
• Honestly, I have no faults in this product. I will use it again!

Pearl Drops Whitening Toothpaste - 99p - Homebargains

I love white teeth, and I've never been happy with the colour of mine. Whitening toothpastes recommended by the dentists never work for me! I have tried bicarbonate of soda mixed with lemon juice brushed on my teeth which did work slightly but hurt my gums. However, many people say this is supposed to be good and at this price, what harm could it do?

Good points-

• Smells so nice! Fresh and minty!
• Tastes just as good, not too strong at all! Not too minty and not too sweet.
• I noticed a difference just in one use! I couldn't believe the difference just from 2 minutes brushing!
• So cheap!!!
• Pretty bottle ;-)

I would recommend this for ANYONE who wants a cheap, effective teeth whitener!

Bad points-

• None so far!

Clean & Clear exfoliating daily wash - £2.85 - Sainsbury's

It took me ages to choose this because clean and clear do so many pretty face washes which I want to try! But I went for the cheapest to try because I haven't used this brand before. I wanted to try an exfoliating wash because I feel it cleans deeper due to the micro-beads!

Good points-

• Cheap
• Smells nice, but not perfumed
• Gentle but feels like it cleans deep into pores
• Easy and quick to use in the morning and before bed

Bad points-

• Leaves my skin feels very dry straight after I dry my face
• After I dry my face and start to moisturise, I can still feel some micro-beads on my face

Substance Abuse

I want to display my Photography work somewhere other than my Sketchbook at college, so here is my first ever shoot with my new camera- a Canon 1100D.


I decided to base this shoot on substance abuse, because I'm interested in portraying current issues in a creative way (I sound like a posh twat). I used an urban, alleyway area in Newcastle for my setting, natural lighting, and various props such as alcohol bottles and crushed paracetomol to resemble the drug cocaine.

This is my favourite photo, simply because of the light which creates a sort of halo on my model's head. I really like how the light creates an outline and adds a sparkle to the vodka bottle. This was spontaneous, too!

These are some of the photos, although not the best and in need of editing... I tried different camera angles, such as this high angle shot to the right to show how powerless and defenseless a sufferer of substance abuse is. I like the contrast between the dull, neutral coloured walls and his bright blue and red clothing.

This last photo basically shows an action shot of the drug abuse. I used a close up shot to give us a better view of the action taking place. I used crushed paracetomol to resemble cocaine but didn't seem to do enough research because a cocaine line is usually a lot thinner (not that it matters). I also think I should have moved the stone and focused on the drugs better.

Hello!

Recently I've been spending so much of my money! I just can't stop, there's so much stuff I've been hyping over. So I'll show you one thing which I've been DYING to get. 


I've been after a tie-dye top for so long, like literally a year! I knew there were loads of really cheap, brand new ones on eBay for like £1.99, but I was too lazy to ever order one! I also thought about doing it myself, since I had experimented with dip dying denim in my Textiles lessons at college. But me being the lazy but desperate person I am spent £16 on this t-shirt from Urban Outfitters. 


It was originally £18 but there was 20% student day in April, with a DJ, free drinks and a goody bags when you bought something! So as soon as the doors opened I rushed to this t-shirt which I'd previously spotted the day before and bought it before anyone else could! It's got a V-neck, and it's quite big, but I loooove it, it goes perfectly with my leather leggings from Topshop, my fur lined denim jacket from Primark and my Nike Airs.


This is never going to be off my back in summer! x
